It is difficult to describe what inspires me, I
love all art form. But for me painting is poetry of the heart. To mix
colors and move them around the canvas brings intense meaning to the
term soul mates. You can give it form or just create a visual feast. The
very process moves my soul and when the results touch another's the
process complete. For me Art is a concert of being and becoming.
I am a Wayne State graduate and former
Madonna College adjunct faculty who has cultivated a penchant for landscapes that
reflect a conversation of place and respectful conservancy in a culture
of reverent observance and passionate expression of oneness with nature.
My vision for fine art in the Treasure Valley includes a long term goal
to have a Plein Air Painting Museum built here in Boise. It is a natural
since world renown Sergei Bongart and Ovanis Berbarian both lived and
painted here. Their legacy lives on through former students capturing
the beauty of Idaho for all to enjoy for generations to come. It is a
movement whose time has come. I hope to find community and business
support for this gem of a project that will bring increased commerce and
put Idaho on the map as a cultural destination and world treasure.
Perhaps I will also find time to continue to paint as well!
I paint under the name of E. Rose because our youngest daughter retained
her maiden name and is a sculpture professor in the Bay area and is
married to a fine art painter. In order to avoid confusion I just use
Rose. Having raised our family in the Midwest, Ohio and Michigan, my
husband and I set off in our retirement sailboat twelve years ago headed
south. We traversed the Great Lakes bidding "farewell" to our favorite
anchorages over thirty years of boating had introduced us to and passed
through the Erie Barge Canal and Intercoastal Waterways to South
Florida. It was there that I rekindled a long time love of art. I began
painting with a group of women who had also come to Florida by sailboat.
I founded the Waterway Women and we exhibited together at galleries, the
state house and museums.
After ten years of sailing and painting we
endured "our perfect storm" in the Bahamas and lost our retirement home
afloat. We downsized to 27' trawler and continued boating until out
relocation to Idaho. Although not listed in the ten best places to live
we knew of this wonderful valley after summer vacationing away from the
heat, humidity and hurricanes each year. Our middle daughter lives in
Boise area and works to protect the environment while her husband
protects the forests from fires. Our oldest daughter writes and home
schools her children in Ashland with her environmentalist husband.
