Traveling beyond your familiar surroundings contributes to expanding your world view and life experience, both as unique to yourself as it becomes to your art. The fascination of new scenes and subject matter helps the artist to infuse freshness and awe inspiring responses communicated in the work. Most of my travels center on water after over thirty years of boating in the Great Lakes, Atlantic and briefly Pacific Oceans. I feel most at home on or near the water so my work reflects that. Like Monet, the ever-changing reflections in the water inspire many paintings. Some of those travels have taken to me to France, painting everywhere Monet painted, the Caribbean, Central America and further north. It is always rewarding to me when a tourist who has enjoyed a particular area purchases a painting from me of that area. It is a way to share the memory with her and take a part of that place home with her as a constant reminder, and hope of returning one day.
